Finding Ideas in the Landscape with Roy Smith
March 28 and 29, 2026 9:00am to 3:00pm
We will work with photos to design a successful landscape painting. Students will use design and value studies to be used in a final painting.
The instructor will provide painting panels and some photos, but feel free to bring your own.

Students must bring:
*Limited palette of paints, any medium
If using watercolor or pastel, bring your own substrate (paper).

Additional Information:
*limited palette suggestions: primaries + white+ black. See example below.
Yellow ochre, transparent red oxide (or burnt sienna) cobalt blue, ivory black, titanium white. Or your own combination. We plan to work mainly on design and value. Color at another time.
Bring your portable easel, brushes, paints, sketch pad, etc. Odorless Mineral spirits or water only. No Turpentine.
