Texas Hill Country Plein Air Workshop

I will be showing you all the tips & tricks I’ve learned in my 20+ years of Plein Air Painting as well as doing a demo each morning.

I’ll go over composition & subject matter, how to manage all the greens that can be overwhelming in plein air painting, how to “loosen up” and lots more!

Each attendee will need to bring their own outdoor setup.  It doesn’t have to be expensive or extravagant.  It just needs to be able to hold your canvas upright and steady.  And you’ll need a palette to put out your paint and mix.  It could be as simple as a table easel on a TV tray and a palette.  If you want to sit while painting, be sure to bring a portable chair that will work with your set up.  A lawn chair doesn’t really work well because you sink back into it too much to be able to paint.  If you have a plein air set that you have purchased, play around with it before the workshop and be familiar with it.  You don’t want to waste your time trying to figure out how to put it together or use it when you could be painting.

You’ll need at least 2 canvases or panels, no specific size but anything over 9x12 starts to get a little hard to handle in Plein Air painting.

See Supply List for everything you’ll need.
