Sewing Machines for Beginners with Esther Jones

Learn how to use your sewing machine! You will learn the parts of your machine, how to thread it, how to fill the bobbin, what it’s like to adjust the tension and other esoteric skills needed to be able to use your machine to sew. You will practice sewing in a straight line, curved lines, and how to navigate corners. After this overview, you will have the chance to sew your own tote bag.

Materials Kit, $35, payable to instructor includes:

• Sewing practice sheets

• Fabric

• Pattern

• Thread

• Needle threader

• Seam ripper

You will need to bring:

•  Portable straight stitch sewing machine

•  Extension cord

•  Two 80/12 size needles for your machine

•  Sewing scissors

• The manual for your sewing machine, or have access to the onlline manual

• ​

The instructor will provide:

•  Ironing board and iron

•  Tape for pattern assembly​​
